The approach channel to Dobanki camp — classic Sundarbans boat run before the canopy walkway.

Most visitors say they “went to Dobanki” for the canopy walk. Before that, they already travelled the Dobanki Canal — a mangrove-lined channel where the launch slows, the guide scans mudbanks, and kingfishers stake out posts.

The canal segment is where first-timers feel the forest close in: pneumatophores at eye level, crocodile-shaped logs, and the hand-off from open river to camp landing. Wildlife is never promised; the transition is the point.

After mooring, you walk the elevated path at Dobanki camp. Time at camp is capped; the canal run is part of the same permit day, often after Sudhanyakhali.

On quiet mornings some crews compare this stretch with Choragazi Canal for bird and dolphin chances. Both are about slow, legal boat movement — not shore trekking.
